Replacing an old or broken car part can be a costly purchase if you choose to have a dealer order & install the part. A better alternative for many car part replacements is to check out your local salvage yard. You could be getting the same items in new condition for a way lower price!

Mirrors

If you have a professional order and install a new mirror in your car, you will be paying more 

than you should be. Ask someone at your local salvage yard to help you find the right mirror you are looking for, and they will help you save on this small part. 

Alternator 

A refurbished alternator has new wire windings where the old ones have worn away. Make sure your car has a freshly wired alternator. This prevents getting a dead battery.

Power Locks

If your power locks run out, you might put off replacing them due to cost because they are not a necessity. Instead of having to save up for this feature that most cars today have, buy your replacement parts at a salvage yard. Radio

Radio is another non-essential that you don’t have to go without, and that is easy to self-install. Many cars in salvage yards still have their radios intact, and some even have Just make sure before you purchase that the radio is compatible with your vehicle. 

Spare Tires

Cars are often sent to salvage yards, having never used their spare tires. The spare tires are found where they have always been, which is usually beneath the trunk or on the back of the vehicle. If you need a spare, get unused from a salvage yard instead of paying full price for the same item! 

Rims

If you find rims at a salvage yard that fit your tires and are in the aesthetic condition you want, this is a smart choice over purchasing brand new rims. Cars at salvage yards often have all 4 rims still available. Someone at the salvage yard can help you find your tire size or car make.
